Join Our Chorus

At SMTS we are proud to operate on an Open Chorus Policy, so if you want to join our Theatre Family then you won't be required to Audition to perform on stage within the capacity of our Chorus. You DO NOT have to be a Student at the University of Strathclyde to hold a general membership at SMTS. At SMTS, we welcome members from ALL Colleges, Universities, and any other Vocations. Members MUST be 16+ years.

Principle Auditions: Online

Competition for Principle Roles is always fierce, but at SMTS we want to give everyone a fair chance to show us what they can do. Our informal 2-step Audition process can be done totally online!

​

STEP 1 - Perform a song from a Musical of your choice, showcasing your Vocal Style and Range to the fullest extent. Choose a song are comfortable singing, we want to see you at your best and most confident. Whether you are a Legit Soprano, a Brassy Belting Mezzo, a Bluesy Base or anything in between, show us who you are as a vocalist.

STEP 2 - Perform a short monologue of your choice (approx. 1-2mins). The monologue can be any genre from any medium: Film, Literature or Theatre. We encourage you to explore a monologue that resonates with you as a performer. Try and choose a piece that you enjoy performing.

As of the 1st of September 2020, we will be opening Auditions for our upcoming Showcase, 'Broadway's Best'. As a result of current safety restrictions surrounding the outbreak of Covid-19 all Principle Auditions will be carried out Online. Audition videos can be submitted to our Production team via email. There are a number of fantastic roles available to audition for new members and any unsuccessful auditions will have the option of joining our amazing chorus!
